Baseball standout John R. Collins competed for the Mountaineers from 1968-1971. He was recognized each year by the Oregon Collegiate Conference as a first team selection as an outfielder and catcher. In 1972 he was also named to the All- District team as a catcher. In 1969 he led the team with a .438 batting average which was third in the conference overall. Collins was also a member of the 1969-1970 OCC championship team.
