Jerry Ewing: Mountaineer Athletic Legacy Award
The Mountaineer Athletic Legacy Award recognizes individuals who have made positive contributions to athletics while attaining outstanding accomplishments and/or achievements in their professions.

Ewing became a three-time District 7AA Wrestling Champion at 98 pounds for Vale High School in from 1963-65. After high school, Ewing went on to wrestle for EOU (formerly Eastern Oregon College) for two seasons (1968-69 at 115, 1969-70 at 118). Â

After EOU, Ewing coached wrestling from 1970-2000 at McLoughlin High School in Milton-Freewater, Ore. Ewing would go on to become a three-time (1986-1988) AA Oregon High School Coaches Association Wrestling Coach of the Year. In 1991-92, Ewing was voted the AAA Oregon High School Association Wrestling Coach of the Year.

In 1994, Ewing brought home two national coaching awards as the National High School Athletic Coaches Association (NHSCA) Regional Wrestling Coach of the Year and NHSCA National Wrestling Coach of the Year.

Ewing's career coaching records consist of a 409-128-10 in dual meets. He carded 17 district titles between 1980-2000 and had his teams finish as district champions or runner-ups for 23 of the 24 years.

After his 30-year coaching career, Ewing retired and moved to Hawaii.
