Association of Student Athletes (ASA)

In 2014 Eastern Oregon University established a Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) program, with the name officially changing in 2023 to the Association of Student Athletes (ASA) to better align with the national ASA and more accurately reflect the growth of the group.  The EOU ASA serves as a leadership and advocacy team on behalf of all EOU’s student-athletes to enhance their collegiate athletics experience.  Membership on the EOU ASA is comprised of members from each sports program, for a total of 22 members.
 
The EOU ASA serves the following functions:
  • Student-Athlete Welfare: Provide a platform for student-athletes to address concerns and/or bring forward recommendations regarding their experience and welfare as a student-athlete
  • Community Outreach: Promote community engagement and character development through the Five Core Values of the Champions of Character program
  • EOU Governance: Develop a pathway for students to understand and provide input on EOU, CCC, and NAIA legislation
  • Servant Leadership: Ensure the commitment and promotion of the champions of character program, by leading as the example
Eastern Oregon University Athletics seeks recommendations from ASA on a variety of topics, which impact student athletes.  The EOU ASA is committed to engaging with the community through a variety of events including but not limited to, an annual Kickin’ It Into Gear event for youth, socialize with adults with disabilities population through sport and movement, and donations to various organizations and efforts supported by ASA.
