LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern traveled to Caldwell for a single nine-inning game on Wednesday evening. A massive first inning for the Yotes carried them to victory over the Mounties 15-4. With the loss EOU now sits at 1-6 on the season.
The first inning essentially decided the game Wednesday evening. College of Idaho put up a whopping 10 runs on seven singles in the bottom half of the inning. EOU responded with three runs of their own in the next half inning thanks to a
Noah Mayfield double and
Youhyeon Choi triple. It wasn't nearly enough though as the Yotes put on two more in the bottom half of the second and then cruised to the a 15-4 victory. The only other run for the Mounties came in the top of the sixth on a
Noah Zohn sacrifice fly.
Eastern now shifts their sights to a matchup with one of the top teams in the country, No. 2-ranked Lewis-Clark State College. EOU will travel to Lewiston to take on the Warriors this weekend for a four game series starting at noon on Saturday.
