LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon traveled across state lines to take on the No. 2-ranked Warriors of Lewis Clark State College on Saturday. The Mounties were swept in the opening double header losing 2-9 in game one and 3-13 in game two. Eastern will return to action tomorrow afternoon against the Warriors to finish up the four-game series.
GAME 1
Eastern came out and struck first in the game one thanks to a solo shot off the bat of
Joey Freitas in the top of the first. Things were looking up as they followed that up with a good defensive half, but EOU couldn't hold off the Warriors much longer. LC State took control of the game with a four-run second inning and two-run third to go up 6-1. Eastern was able to scratch across one more run in the top of the sixth after Freitas doubled to center followed by a
Justin Frederick single to bring in Freitas. The Warriors put the nail in the coffin with three more runs in the eighth to take a 9-2 win.

STANDOUT MOUNTIE PERFORMANCES
GAME 2
The Mounties responded well early in game two putting up two runs in the top of the first thanks to another
Joey Freitas double to bring in Rogelio Gonzalez.
Mario Landeros came up a couple batters later and added another double to center scoring Freitas to put EOU up 2-0. LCSC responded with one run in the bottom half on a sacrifice fly to make it 2-1, EOU. Eastern put up one more run in the top of the second thanks to a Gonzalez double to bring in
Carson Gerding to make it a 3-1 ballgame, but that was it for the Mounties. The No. 2 Warriors went exploed in the middle innings putting up 12 runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to end the game early taking a 13-3 win.
