CORVALLIS, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University Baseball was picked to finish sixth in the
Cascade Collegiate Conference Preseason Poll, earning 19 points ahead of the 2027 campaign.
The Mountaineers enter the upcoming season under Head Coach
Shane McCarroll and new assistant coach Dalton Stamper, continuing to build momentum as they look to strengthen their position in the CCC and compete against the conference's top programs.
Eastern Oregon finished the 2026 season with a 14-35 overall record and an 11-25 mark in conference play. Despite the challenges of the season, the Mounties demonstrated their ability to compete with top-tier opponents, earning notable victories over (RV) British Columbia, 11-8, and No. 5 Lewis-Clark State, 10-4.
The Mountaineers return a group of experienced contributors, including outfielders
Andrew Demianew and
Jaxon Logsdon, catcher
David Soto, and pitcher
Jake Lenberger. Their returning experience will be important as EOU works to fill key roles left by All-American shortstop
Jace Nagler, CCC Golden Glove second baseman
Tucker Zander, and contributors
Easton Corey, Mario Soto and
Alex Olague.
Eastern Oregon will also look to its incoming talent to make an impact, with transfer pitchers Zach Reynolds and Dylon Veley joining the pitching staff alongside outfielder Jack Engell. The combination of returning veterans and new additions gives the Mountaineers a foundation to build on as they prepare for another season of CCC competition.
The Mounties will open the 2027 season in Arizona on Feb. 12 against Park University Gilbert, beginning their pursuit of continued growth and success in the conference.
