GREENWOOD, Ind. – Twelve Eastern Oregon University student-athletes have been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District Cross Country/Track & Field Teams, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced Tuesday.
The Academic All-District honor recognizes student-athletes who excel both academically and athletically. Nominees must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 while competing in the majority of their team's contests.
Eastern Oregon placed six women and six men on the list. The women's honorees were
Melanie Boatman,
Gracie Birkinbine,
Sara McKen,
Sydney Peck,
Nora Roscoe, and
Mattie Woodbury. Representing the men's team were
Dylan Buss,
Mark Church,
Luke Davis,
Cristian Mendoza,
Trevor Nichols, and
Van Vinson.
Boatman, a junior from Pendleton, Oregon, competed in the indoor 60m, 200m, 400m, and relay events before moving outdoors to the 100m, 200m, javelin, and relays. At the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships, she placed ninth in the 100m, 13th in the 200m, and 15th in the 400m while helping the 4x100 relay claim a conference title. The relay team later advanced to the NAIA Championships and finished 19th nationally.
Birkinbine, a senior from Vancouver, Washington, competed in the indoor 60m and 200m before transitioning to the outdoor 100m, 200m, 100m hurdles, and 400m hurdles. She earned a seventh-place finish in the 100m hurdles and placed 11th in the 400m hurdles at the conference championships.
McKen, a senior from Afton, Wyoming, starred in the indoor 60m and 200m, breaking the school record in the 60m and earning an 11th-place finish at the NAIA Indoor Championships. During the outdoor season, she competed in the 100m, 200m, and relay events. At the conference meet, McKen finished runner-up in the 100m and fourth in the 200m while helping the 4x100 relay secure a conference championship and a berth at nationals, where the team placed 19th.
Peck, a senior from West Jordan, Utah, competed in the indoor 60m, 200m, and relay events, helping the 4x400 relay earn a 14th-place finish nationally. Outdoors, she competed in the 100m hurdles, 400m, and relays. At the conference championships, Peck placed fourth in the 100m hurdles, third in the 400m hurdles, and eighth in the 400m to earn All-Conference honors. She later qualified for nationals, placing 19th in the 400m hurdles and helping the 4x400 relay finish 13th.
Roscoe, a senior from Vancouver, Washington, competed in the indoor 60m, 200m, and relay events and continued her success outdoors in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and relays. She helped the indoor 4x400 relay place ninth nationally. At the outdoor conference championships, Roscoe finished fifth in the 100m, second in the 200m, and seventh in the 400m. She was also a member of the conference champion 4x100 relay and runner-up 4x400 relay teams, which went on to place 19th and 13th, respectively, at the national meet.
Woodbury, a junior from Hines, Oregon, competed in cross country as well as the indoor 800m, mile, and 3000m and the outdoor 800m and 1500m. She placed 25th in the conference cross country 6K and 16th in the 1500m at the outdoor conference championships. Woodbury also helped the indoor 4x800 relay earn a 12th-place finish at nationals and contributed to a distance medley relay squad that achieved a national ranking of 23rd.
Vinson, a sophomore from McCall, Idaho, competed in the pole vault during both the indoor and outdoor seasons. He finished second at the conference championships and qualified for the NAIA National Championships.
Buss, a junior from Connell, Washington, competed in the indoor weight throw and the outdoor javelin, hammer throw, and discus. He earned All-Conference honors with a third-place finish in the javelin and qualified for the national championships, where he placed 11th. Buss also finished 21st in the hammer throw at the conference meet.
Church, a senior from Fruitland, Idaho, was an indoor and outdoor All-American in the throwing events. He competed in the shot put and weight throw during the indoor season and the shot put, hammer throw, and discus outdoors. Church placed eighth nationally in the indoor weight throw and followed with a fifth-place finish in the outdoor hammer throw and an 18th-place finish in the discus at nationals. He also captured conference titles in both the hammer throw and discus.
Davis, a junior from Haines, Alaska, competed in cross country and a variety of distance events across the indoor and outdoor track seasons, including the mile, 3000m, 5000m, 800m, 1500m, and 3000m steeplechase. He finished 53rd at the NAIA Cross Country Championships and placed seventh in the steeplechase at the conference meet.
Mendoza, a graduate student from La Grande, Oregon, competed in the indoor 3000m and the outdoor 1500m and 5000m. He earned a 17th-place finish at the NAIA Indoor Championships in the 3000m and placed 24th in the 1500m at the conference championships.
Nichols, a junior from Heppner, Oregon, competed in cross country and distance events throughout both track seasons, including the mile, 3000m, 5000m, 800m, and 1500m. He placed 19th in the conference cross country 8K, 12th in the outdoor 800m, and fifth in the 1500m at the conference championships.
The honorees' success in competition, combined with their achievements in the classroom, earned them recognition on the CSC Academic All-District Team.
In addition, Roscoe, Peck, Boatman, McKen, and Church were selected to advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. Academic All-America teams will be announced July 14 for men and July 15 for women.
