LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon Mountaineers Track & Field opened Day One of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships with a statement performance on its home track in La Grande, recording four broken program records, four conference titles, and 17 All-Conference performances. As a team, Eastern Oregon Women stand in first place with 92 points, while the men stand in 2nd place with 70 points.
All athletes who placed in the top three of their events earned All-Conference honors as the Mountaineers found success across the track and field events throughout the day.
The men's 4x100 relay team of
Jayce Bartley,
Keaton Moore,
Bryson Spears, and
Nick Robinson captured the conference title in 40.52, setting a program best, facility record, and NAIA "A" standard while moving to No. 11 nationally.
The women's 4x100 relay squad of
Melanie Boatman,
Taylor Joyce,
Nora Roscoe, and
Sara McKen also earned All-Conference honors with a second-place finish in 46.77, breaking the program record and climbing to No. 18 in the NAIA rankings.
In the distance events,
Riley Morris claimed the conference championship in the women's 1500m with a winning time of 4:36.95, while
Kaleah Hines added another title in the women's 10,000m after crossing the line in 38:10.80.
EOU also saw record-breaking performances in the sprint events.
Sydney Peck earned All-Conference honors with a second-place finish in the women's 100m hurdles in 14.58, breaking the program record, while Lizzy Grandle followed closely behind in third with a time of 14.77 to also secure All-Conference recognition.
On the men's side,
Peter Daniels continued the momentum in the 400m, finishing second in 47.47 to set a new program record and move to No. 23 in the NAIA rankings.
Taylor Joyce added another All-Conference finish for the Mountaineers in the women's 400m, taking third in 57.26.
In the field events,
Mark Church earned a conference championship in the hammer throw with a mark of 56.69m. The Mountaineers also picked up valuable points in the pole vault as
Van Vinson cleared 4.71m for second place and
Jack Herman finished third at 4.61m.
After an electric opening day featuring conference titles, records, national qualifying marks, and All-Conference performances, the Mountaineers head into Day 2 with strong momentum on their home track.
Day two will open with the discus, triple jump, high jump, and javelin, followed by running finals in the 100 meters, 800 meters, 400-meter hurdles, 200 meters, and 5,000 meters. The meet will conclude with the 4x400 relay and final awards presentations. Eastern Oregon will also honor their senior class following the conclusion of all CCC Award presentations.
