NEW ORLEANS, La. – With the conclusion of the cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field seasons, both Eastern Oregon University programs finished among the nation's Top 20 in the
USTFCCCA Program of the Year final standings.
The USTFCCCA Program of the Year Award recognizes the institution that achieves the highest level of success across an academic year, combining results from the cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field championships.
To be eligible, programs must qualify for all three national championships. Scoring is determined by each team's finish at those championships (1st place = 1 point, 2nd place = 2 points, and so on), with the lowest combined total earning the award. In the event of a tie, points are split among the tied positions.
The Mountaineer women placed 14th in the final standings with 88.5 points. Their total included 22 points from cross country, 46.5 points from indoor track & field, and 20 points from outdoor track & field.
The Mountaineer men finished 16th with 77 total points, earning 7 points from cross country, 17.5 points from indoor track & field, and 52.5 points from outdoor track & field.
