LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University is set to host and compete in the two-day
Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, beginning Friday. More than 200 athletes from 12 institutions will compete for Top 3 All-Conference honors and NAIA National Championship qualifying marks.
Action begins Friday at 1:00 p.m. with the hammer throw, shot put, and pole vault. While not counted toward CCC team scores, the 5,000-meter run and 4x800 relay will also be contested for NAIA qualifying marks.
At 2:00 p.m., the CCC will honor its multi-event athletes who competed in mid-April at the CCC Multi Events Championships in Ashland.
Elizabeth Grandle captured the women's heptathlon title, setting a new conference and program record while also taking over the No. 1 national ranking by a margin of 300 points. Her javelin throw additionally earned an NAIA 'A' standard qualifying mark.
Nathan Wachs impressed in his multi-event debut, finishing second overall and moving into No. 18 in program history in the decathlon. Grandle contributed 10 team points with her victory, while Wachs added eight. Both will receive All-Conference honors for their top-three finishes.
Competition resumes following the awards ceremony with the men's and women's steeplechase, 4x100 relay, long jump, 1,500 meters, 100-meter hurdles, 110-meter hurdles, 400 meters, pole vault, and concludes Friday with the 10,000 meters.
Day two opens with the discus, triple jump, high jump, and javelin, followed by running finals in the 100 meters, 800 meters, 400-meter hurdles, 200 meters, and 5,000 meters. The meet will conclude with the 4x400 relay and final awards presentations.
Eastern Oregon will field approximately 150 entries across 24 men's and women's events over the two days.
Currently leading the conference are the women's 4x100 relay team of
Melanie Boatman,
Taylor Joyce,
Nora Roscoe, and
Sara McKen with a time of 46.87, along with Grandle's heptathlon score of 5,160. The women's 4x400 relay team of Joyce, Peck, McKen, and Roscoe ranks second. Individually, McKen is second in the 100 meters, while Roscoe sits fourth. Both athletes rank fourth and third, respectively, in the 200 meters.
Kaleah Hines holds third in the 10,000 meters, while
Sydney Peck ranks third in the 400 meters and fourth in the 100 meters.
On the men's side,
Nick Robinson leads the conference in the 100 meters, while
Eamon Monahan tops the high jump.
Mark Church leads both the discus and hammer throw. The 4x400 relay team of
Peter Daniels,
Jayce Bartley,
Reuben Manzer, and
Keaton Moore holds the top spot, while the 4x100 relay team of Bartley, Moore,
James Connally, and Robinson ranks second.
Bryson Spears is second in the 400-meter hurdles, Daniels sits third in the 200 meters, and Stephan Pittman and
Van Vinson are tied for third in the pole vault.
The Eastern Oregon men's team will look to defend its CCC Championship title and secure its 10th conference crown, while the women aim to capture their second title, last won in 2024.
