OREGON — Eastern Oregon Track & Field split its squad across two meets over the weekend—the Oregon State High Performance Meet and the Linfield Open—and turned in a strong collective showing, highlighted by four NAIA "B" qualifying standards, two school records, and multiple event titles.
Oregon State High Performance – Day 1
The weekend opened with a standout performance from
Cody White in the discus, as he delivered a massive personal best of 46.75m—an improvement of more than 10 feet—to move into No. 9 on Eastern's all-time list while placing ninth overall.
Freshman
Kaliyah Chronister impressed in the long jump, advancing to the final after winning her flight and ultimately placing ninth with a mark of 5.24m, moving her to No. 16 in program history.
Sydney Peck continued her strong season in the 400m hurdles, hitting another NAIA "B" standard with a time of 1:02.19 to place third.
Despite breezy conditions, Eastern's sprinters made a statement in the 200m.
Nora Roscoe (24.79),
Sara McKen (24.82),
Melanie Boatman (25.08), and
Taylor Joyce (25.18) all recorded all-conditions marks that now rank between fourth and seventh in program history. On the men's side,
Peter Daniels led the way with a fifth-place finish in 21.44, moving to No. 3 all-time, while
Jayce Bartley and Nate Wachs also climbed the program rankings.
Evan Gunning posted a personal best of 54.48 in the 400m hurdles to move to No. 9 all-time, while distance runners
Hunter Marlatt (9:34.13) and
Luke Davis (9:39.45) each improved in the steeplechase.
Kaleah Hines delivered one of the day's top performances, winning the 5,000m in 17:53.91—a personal best by more than four seconds despite battling windy conditions—to move to No. 9 in program history.
Taylor Redick also made a big leap in the steeplechase, cutting 20 seconds off her previous best to move to No. 7 all-time (11:42.93).
Riley Morris added a season-best performance in the 1500m (4:33.44), improving her NAIA "B" standard.
Oregon State High Performance – Day 2
Eastern carried its momentum into Saturday with more strong results.
Riley Morris posted a 2:14.36 in the 800m to move to No. 5 all-time.
In the 100m hurdles, Peck and Lizzy Grandle both clocked 14.90, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively, with Peck edging ahead by fractions of a second.
Aliviah Mode added a top-10 finish and moved to No. 11 in program history.
The men's relays stole the show. The 4x100m team of
Jayce Bartley,
Keaton Moore,
James Connally, and
Nick Robinson set a new school record with a time of 40.95, hitting the NAIA "B" standard and winning the event. The 4x400m relay squad—
Peter Daniels, Bartley,
Reuben Manzer, and Moore—also claimed victory with a 3:13.85, another NAIA "B" mark that currently ranks No. 13 nationally.
Overall, Eastern recorded two school records, three event titles, 32 top-10 finishes, and 22 marks that rank in the program's all-time top 25.
Linfield Open
At the Linfield Open, Eastern added two more NAIA "B" standards.
Mark Church won the discus with a qualifying mark of 49.51m, while
Van Vinson cleared 4.80m in the pole vault to place second and move into a tie for No. 6 in program history. Teammate
TJ Lynch also placed sixth in the vault, ranking No. 15 all-time.
Norah Brooks improved to No. 17 in program history in the hammer throw with a third-place mark of 42.78m.
On the track,
Mattie Woodbury claimed victory in the 1500m (4:54.26), and Eastern added another win in the mixed 4x100m relay.
The Mountaineers totaled 14 top-10 finishes and five additional top-25 program marks at Linfield, capping off a productive and record-setting weekend across both meets.
