PORTLAND, Ore. – Eastern Oregon Track & Field delivered a standout weekend at the two-day Lewis & Clark Larry Byerly Invitational, closing competition with event titles, a program record performance, three national qualifying standards, and a wave of marks that reshaped the EOU all-time lists.
Friday's action opened in the throws with immediate success.
Katelyn Senn captured the women's javelin title with a winning mark of 37.62m, setting the tone early for EOU's field event group. On the men's side,
Mark Church claimed victory in the hammer throw, launching 57.36m to win by more than two meters over the field.
Cody White also made a significant jump in the hammer, finishing seventh with a near three-meter personal best of 45.40m, moving him into No. 25 on the EOU all-time list.
Saturday brought a surge of standout performances on the track.
Kaleah Hines led the way with a dominant victory in the 10,000m, clocking 36:54.93 to secure an NAIA "B" standard while moving to No. 2 in program history. Teammate
Kiah Carlson also impressed in the event, placing sixth with a personal-best 39:39.21 to climb to No. 11 all-time.
In the hurdles,
Sydney Peck continued her consistency with a runner-up finish in the 100m hurdles, lowering her personal best to 15.04 while holding at No. 7 in EOU history.
Aliviah Mode followed with a .33-second improvement in the same event (15.50), tying for No. 15 all-time, and later added a 400m hurdles mark of 1:07.30 to enter the record book at No. 23.
Andrea Goulet posted personal bests in both horizontal jumps, adding six centimeters in the long jump (5.26m) to move to No. 8 in program history while placing sixth. She also recorded a 10.38m triple jump to place ninth and enter the top 25 at No. 17.
The distance crew saw major drops across the board.
Hunter Marlatt cut 12 seconds in the steeplechase, placing third in 9:36.65 to move to No. 20 all-time, while
Luke Davis followed with a 14-second improvement (9:40.46) to land at No. 24.
Riley Morris dropped over 30 seconds in the 5000m (18:22.05) to move to No. 17.
Sprints and relays delivered some of the biggest highlights of the meet.
Sara McKen broke her own school record in the 100m, winning in 11.95. The women's 4x400 relay team of
Taylor Joyce,
Sydney Peck, McKen, and
Nora Roscoe claimed the title in 3:51.37, moving to No. 2 all-time at EOU.
On the men's side, the 4x100 relay of Jayce Batley,
Keaton Moore,
James Connally, and
Nick Robinson trimmed .04 seconds off their school record set two weeks prior, finishing second in 41.08. The 4x400 relay team of
Peter Daniels,
Bryson Spears,
Reuben Manzer, and Jace Bartley added another win, taking first in 3:18.95 to move to No. 11 in program history.
Individually,
Bryson Spears posted a standout performance in the 400m hurdles, placing third in 53.00 to earn a "B" standard and move up to No. 2 all-time at EOU.
Peter Daniels added a fourth-place finish in the 200m (21.68), climbing to No. 5 in program history, while
Keaton Moore ran 10.69 in the 100m for seventh, improving his personal best while remaining No. 6 all-time.
In the field events,
Jack Herman improved his pole vault clearance to 4.69m, placing sixth and moving to No. 10 at EOU.
TJ Lynch also entered the record book, clearing 4.39m to finish 10th and rank No. 23.
Reuben Manzer made an impressive debut in the 400m hurdles, placing seventh in 55.80 to move into the top 25 at No. 20.
