ASHLAND, Ore. – On Day 1 of the CCC Multi-Event Championships, Eastern Oregon Track & Field athletes delivered strong performances, positioning themselves well heading into the final day of competition.
In the women's heptathlon,
Elizabeth Grandle leads the field with 3,136 points after a dominant opening day, winning all four events. She clocked 15.09 in the 100m hurdles, cleared 1.61m in the high jump, recorded a throw of 12.71m in the shot put, and capped the day with a 25.39 finish in the 200m.
Kaliyah Chronister sits in third place with 2,567 points. She began the day with back-to-back fourth-place finishes in the 100m hurdles (15.68) and high jump (1.49m), followed by a ninth-place mark of 8.77m in the shot put. She closed strong with a 26.50 performance in the 200m.
Naiya Senthavilay is currently 14th with 1,768 points. She placed 10th in both the 100m hurdles (17.72) and high jump (1.25m), took 13th in the shot put with a mark of 8.21m, and finished 14th in the 200m with a time of 29.96.
In the men's decathlon,
Nathan Wachs leads the field with 3,583 points after a strong opening day. He began with a second-place finish in the 100m (11.05), then claimed victories in both the long jump (6.74m) and high jump (1.94m). Wachs also placed 11th in the shot put (10.08m) before closing the day with a fifth-place finish in the 400m (51.64).
Loren Wright sits in 11th place with 3,036 points. He opened with a fifth-place finish in the 100m (11.27), followed by a sixth-place mark in the long jump (6.08m). Wright delivered a strong third-place performance in the shot put (10.79m), placed 16th in the high jump (1.55m), and wrapped up the day with an eighth-place finish in the 400m (53.23).
The competition resumes tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the final three events in the Women's Heptathlon– long jump, javelin, and the 800m – and five events in the Men's Decathlon – 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, 1,500m.
