GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eastern Oregon Track and Field wrapped up Day 2 of the NAIA Indoor National Championships with two All-American performances from
Justin Krabbenhoft and
Mark Church.
Men's Highlights
Justin Krabbenhoft delivered an outstanding performance in the heptathlon, entering the day in third place and ultimately finishing as the national runner-up. Carter Glittinger of Friends (Kan.) began the day in fourth but surged in the final three events to claim the title, finishing 53 points ahead of Krabbenhoft.
Krabbenhoft posted strong results across the seven events, winning the 60m dash with a time of 7.01. He added a sixth-place finish in the long jump (6.66m), 10th in the shot put (11.46m), and tied for second in the high jump (1.94m). He followed with a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.43), fifth in the pole vault (4.45m), and fifth in the 1000m with a personal-best time of 2:41.74. Krabbenhoft finished the competition with 5,413 points, earning All-American honors with his second-place finish.
Mark Church also secured All-American recognition, placing eighth in the 35-pound weight throw with a mark of 18.58m.
Also competing for the Mountaineers on Day 2 were
Osman Osman in the 400m preliminaries and
Reuben Manzer in the 600m preliminaries. Both athletes competed Thursday as members of Eastern Oregon's program-record-breaking 4x400 relay team. Despite strong efforts, the quick turnaround appeared to take its toll, as Osman finished 20th with a time of 49.20 and Manzer placed 22nd with a time of 1:22.16. Neither advanced to the finals.
Women's Highlights
On the women's side,
Riley Morris led the way with a record-breaking performance in the 1000m. Morris shattered her own school record with a time of 2:51.78 to advance to the finals—nearly four seconds faster than the mark she set in last year's national prelims.
Sara McKen (60m),
Carlee Jensen (800m), and
Nora Roscoe (200m) also competed on Day 2 after contributing to Eastern Oregon's program-record-breaking relay performances on Thursday. McKen finished 25th in the 60m with a time of 7.78. Jensen placed 18th in the 800m with a time of 2:19.80, setting a new indoor personal best and moving up to No. 10 on the EOU all-time list. Roscoe finished 31st in the 200m with a time of 25.52. None advanced to the finals.
Eastern Oregon returns for the final day of the NAIA Indoor Championships with several events remaining. The men's 4x400 relay team will compete in the finals, while
Stephen Pittman is set to compete in the pole vault and
Cristian Mendoza will run in the 3000m.
