LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University turned in another standout performance Saturday at the EOU Lew Thorne Invite, showcasing depth and dominance inside the EOU Fieldhouse.
The Mountaineers piled up first-place finishes, three new facility records, two "A" standards, three "B" standards, and 20 new entries into the EOU all-time Top 25 list in a day packed with elite-level performances.
Men's Highlights
The men's squad was led by multiple event wins and national-qualifying marks.
- Mark Church captured the 35-pound weight throw at 18.55 meters, hitting the "A" standard and narrowly missing the facility record.
- Sawyer Dean added another "A" standard by winning the pole vault at 4.86 meters.
- Rueben Manzer took first in the 600 meters (1:22.10) to meet the "B" standard
- Nick Robinson (60m, 6.95), Nathan Wachs (high jump, 1.96m), Justin Krabbenhoft (long jump, 6.48m), and Grady Greenwood (1000m, 2:34.42) all secured event victories.
- Several Mountaineers etched their names into the program's all-time list, including Dean (pole vault, #6), Greenwood (1000m, #25), Dakota Pilster (triple jump, #17), Dylan Buss (weight throw, #23), and Peter Daniels (600m, #25).
Women's Highlights
The women's team delivered equally impressive performances, highlighted by multiple record-breaking efforts.
- Riley Morris set a new Fieldhouse record in the 800 meters, winning the event in 2:17.07 and meeting the "B" standard.
- The 4x400 relay of Sydney Peck, Taylor Joyce, Halee Hisler, and Nora Roscoe shattered the facility record by more than 2.5 seconds with a time of 3:57.89, also achieving a "B" standard.
- Kaliyah Chronister claimed the long jump title at 5.24 meters.
- EOU added a deep list of all-time marks on the women's side, led by Peck tying her personal best in the 60m hurdles (9.06) to rank #3 all-time.
- Additional Top 25 performances came from Norah Brooks (weight toss, #13), Andrea Goulet (long jump, #13), Gracie Birkinbine (#9), Aliviah Mode (#14), Chronister (#22) in the hurdles, Kaleah Hines (#18) and Kiah Carlson (#25) in the mile, and Morris (#6), Carlee Jensen (#13), and Kennedy Taylor (#25) in the 800 meters.
- Halee Hisler also notched a win in the 400 meters (59.88, #17), while Melanie Boatman cracked the Top 25 in the 60 meters (#14).
The Mountaineers return to action Friday, February 13 for the two day Whitworth Indoor Invitational in Spokane, Washington.
