MOUNTIES FALL TO BEACONS IN DAY ONE OF SERIES

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Eastern Oregon dropped both games of a Friday doubleheader to Cascade Collegiate Conference foe Bushnell University, falling 6-3 in the opener and 10-0 in game two at the Hamlin Sports Complex.

Game 1: Bushnell 6, Eastern Oregon 3

The Mountaineers (9-21, 5-14 CCC) erased an early 2-0 deficit in the series opener with a two-run fourth inning and briefly took a 3-2 lead in the fifth. Mason Van Arsdall provided the big swing with a two-run single, while Danny Burns added a sacrifice fly to score Trevor Baker.

Bushnell (25-6, 15-4 CCC) responded immediately, tying the game in the fifth before pushing ahead with three unanswered runs over the next two innings. Chase Nye led the Beacons with two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI.

Game 2: Bushnell 10, Eastern Oregon 0

Bushnell controlled the second game from start to finish, blanking Eastern Oregon behind strong pitching and a late offensive explosion. The Beacons scored twice in the first, then added a run in the fifth before breaking it open with a seven-run eighth inning.

Kolby Amaral delivered the big blow with a grand slam to cap the inning. Albert Jennings finished with two RBIs and two runs scored. Nye added another RBI double, reaching base four times and scoring twice in the nightcap.

Eastern Oregon managed just four hits, with Trevor Baker, Mario Landeros, Carson Gerding, and Justin Frederick each collecting one.

EOU starter Reed Stamps gave up two runs over four innings but took the loss. The bullpen struggled late, issuing four walks and allowing seven runs in the eighth.

The Mountaineers and Beacons will conclude the series with a doubleheader tomorrow, Saturday the 29th. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
