SPOKANE, Wash. – Eastern Oregon University Track & Field showed out at the Inland Northwest Invitational, with multiple athletes securing top finishes.
Sara McKen broke her own school record in the women's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.67 seconds in both the semifinals and finals, securing a third-place finish. Lizzy Grandle climbed the record books in the women's 60-meter hurdles, clocking 9.03 seconds in the final—the second-fastest mark in program history. Sydney Peck ran a 9.16-second prelim time in the same event, placing fifth overall and securing the third-best time in school history.
On the men's side, Jayce Bartley ran a 6.95-second time in the 60-meter semifinals, marking the third-best time in program history. In the 200 meters, Osman Osman placed third with a time of 21.76 seconds, while James Connally followed in fourth at 21.83 seconds—EOU's third-fastest all-time mark.
McKen continued her stellar day in the women's 200 meters, finishing second in 24.95 seconds, the third-best mark in program history. Teammate Nora Roscoe was close behind in third, clocking 25.12 seconds, the fourth-best time in EOU records.
The Mountaineers also found success in distance events, as George Showers took second place in the men's 5000 meters with a time of 15:24.67, followed by Thomas Ogden in third at 15:28.67.
In field events, Tanner Nett secured second place in the men's shot put with a throw of 16.53 meters, achieving an NAIA "B" standard. Mark Church matched that feat in the men's weight throw, earning second place with a toss of 17.83 meters, also meeting the NAIA "B" standard.
In addition to this weekend's Inland Northwest Invite, Jonathan Wind also competed at the UW Invitational, securing a "B" standard in the men's 3,000-meter event. Wind's time 8:25.22 currently stands third in the program indoor record books.
EOU Track & Field will look to carry this momentum into next weeks Lew Thorne Invite, hosted by the Mounties at Banner Bank Track on February 14-15th.
