This Week in Mountaineer Athletics: August 31st- September 6th

LA GRANDE, Ore. — Eastern Oregon University Athletics continues its fall season this week, with Men's and Women's Soccer traveling for preseason matchups while Volleyball opens Cascade Collegiate Conference play on the road. 

Wednesday, September 2
Women's Soccer will kick off the week with the first stop of its Tennessee trip, taking on Cumberland University (Tenn.) in Lebanon at 1:00 p.m. CT. Wednesday's matchup will mark the first meeting between the two programs. 

Thursday, September 3
Men's Soccer will make its way to Fort Wayne, Indiana, to face Indiana Tech at 8:00 p.m. ET. The matchup will be the first meeting in program history between the Mounties and Warriors. 

Friday, September 4
Volleyball will open Cascade Conference play on the road against Evergreen at 6:00 p.m. PT. Last season, EOU swept Evergreen in both meetings, earning a 3-0 victory on the road (25-10, 25-7, 25-8) before completing another 3-0 sweep at home (25-20, 25-13, 25-8). Evergreen enters conference play with a 1-3 preseason record, with its lone victory coming against Oklahoma Panhandle State. 

Saturday, September 5
Men's Soccer will continue its road trip in Michigan, facing Spring Arbor University at 2:00 p.m. ET. The contest will mark the first meeting between the Mounties and Cougars. 

Volleyball will wrap up the weekend against Northwest University at 4:00 p.m. PT. EOU swept the Eagles in both meetings last season, earning a 3-0 victory at home (25-15, 25-19, 25-12) before claiming another 3-0 win on the road (25-20, 25-17, 25-17). Northwest enters the matchup with a 4-4 preseason record, earning victories over Ottawa University Arizona, Park University-Gilbert, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and Cumberland University. The Eagles will open CCC play Friday night against The College of Idaho.

Women's Soccer will continue their Tennessee trip Saturday evening, taking on the University of Tennessee Southern in Pulaski at 7:00 p.m. CT. Like Wednesday's matchup, Saturday's contest will be the first meeting between the two programs.
