This Week in Mountaineer Athletics: August 24th- 30th

LA GRANDE, Ore. — Eastern Oregon University Athletics enters the third week of the fall sports season, with nearly every sport beginning official competition. Women's Soccer opens its countable season Wednesday, Volleyball closes their non-conference schedule in Nampa, Men's Soccer hosts its final preseason scrimmage, and Mountaineer Football kicks off the new season at home Saturday night.

Wednesday, August 26
Women's Soccer opens its countable season on the road against Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, at 10:00 a.m. While the match counts toward EOU's season, it will be considered an exhibition for the Boxers.

Thursday, August 27
Women's Soccer continues its season on the road, facing Saint Martin's University at 1:00 p.m. The matchup will mark the first countable meeting between the two programs.

Volleyball heads to Nampa, Idaho, to co-host the I-84 Classic alongside The College of Idaho. The Mountaineers will face three opponents during the weekend, wrapping up their non-conference schedule.

EOU opens the Classic against No. 15-ranked The Master's University (Calif.) at 6:00 p.m. MT. Eastern owns a 3-0 all-time record against the Mustangs, with the Mountaineers sweeping all three meetings. The teams last met in 2021.

Friday, August 28
Volleyball continues the I-84 Classic Friday afternoon, taking on Dickinson State University at 11:00 a.m. MT. The matchup will be the first meeting between the two programs.

The Mountaineers close out the weekend—and their non-conference schedule—against Montana Western at 3:00 p.m. MT. Eastern owns an 8-0 all-time record against the Bulldogs, with the most recent meeting coming in 2024. Eastern earned a four-set victory in that matchup, winning 25-11, 25-12, 24-26, 25-10.

Saturday, August 29
Men's Soccer hosts its final preseason scrimmage Saturday morning, facing College of Southern Idaho at 10:00 a.m. PT in Community Stadium.

Eastern Oregon then turns its attention to the return of Mountaineer Football, hosting The College of Idaho at 6:00 p.m. PT in Community Stadium. The season-opening matchup will provide an early test for the Mountaineers, as The College of Idaho enters the season as a 2025 NAIA National Semifinalist and Frontier Conference West Division Champion. Eastern holds a 6-15 record against the Yotes since 2000, including two close losses last season, 0-7 and 17-21.

With official competition getting underway across the fall sports schedule, EOU Athletics is set for a busy weekend of Mountaineer action.
