TJ Davis Wins Second Consecutive CCC Decathlon Title

LA GRANDE, Ore. – For the second consecutive year, TJ Davis has secured the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Title as he won the decathlon Friday afternoon. The junior took home his second conference crown with an all-around dominant performance at the 2022 CCC Multi-Event Championships, presented by U.S. Bank.

Davis coasted to his second consecutive CCC title. He had one win on day two and placed in the top-five in every event en route to finishing with 7,101 points for the overall win. His mark currently ranks second in the NAIA.

Davis' lone win on the second day was in the first event in the 110-meter hurdles. He blew out the competition, running a 14.52, which was nearly two seconds ahead of second place. He placed second in the discus with a throw of 122-6. Davis grabbed another second place finish in the pole vault with a height clearance of 13-1 ½. His mark tied him for second with two other competitors. In the javelin, he was fifth with a throw of 145-6. Davis wrapped up day two with a first place finish in the 1,500-meter run. He clocked a 4:43.62 to finish up the day. 

Judson Mansfield just missed a podium in decathlon as he placed fourth at his second ever conference championship meet. He finished with 6,154 points for the two day span which is a new personal best. He started the day with a second place finish in the 110 hurdles, running a 16.18.

He then placed fourth in the discus with a mark of 114-9. Mansfield's best finish came in the pole vault as he secured the event with a new personal best mark. He cleared 13-5 ¼ to take down the field. In the javelin, he threw the metal spear a distance of 143-0 and placed sixth. He finished up the day, running a 5:07.22 in the 1,500 and placed fifth.

In the heptathlon, Samantha Conley led the way for EOU, placing ninth with a total of 4,057 points. Teammate Karli Bedard was 12th with 3,936 points.

In the first event of the day, the long jump, Bedard placed with a leap of 16-0 ½. Conley placed 13th with a mark of 15-0 ½. The javelin was Conley's best event as she won it with a throw of 125-11. Bedard placed 11th, throwing 89-5. In the final event, the 800-meter run, Bedard led the way with a seventh place finish. She ran 2:33.31, while Conley was 12th, running a 2:44.54 

For the multi-event athletes, they will have some much needed rest before returning to action. Eastern Oregon's next scheduled meet is set for April 29-30 at the Oregon State High Performance Meet.
