CCC Athlete of the Week
• Pole Vaulter
Darrian Walker was tabbed the CCC Men's Field Athlete of the Week back on March 21 after his performance at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break Open.
• Walker was the event winner in the pole vault with an NAIA A standard mark of 15-9 ¼. His mark is tied for first in the NAIA and is fifth highest in program history for the outdoor season.
What to Watch For This Weekend
• Look for the Mountaineers to get their multi-event athletes to compete and potentially post NAIA qualifying marks.
• Like most meets Eastern has competed at this year, the NNU Invite will feature teams across the NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA level.
• Although the meet will be two days, there will not be prelims and finals for any events.
• Only three Mountaineers have hit NAIA qualifying marks across four events so far this outdoor season. This weekend may see more added to the list early on in the outdoor season.
• This will also be the first outdoor meet for the Mounties in the month of April after having last weekend off due to Spring Break at EOU.
• This is also the first of four meets in April for EOU. The team will look to establish not only NAIA qualifying marks, but also qualifying marks for the CCC Outdoor Championships in mid May.
Up Next
• Following the NNU Invite, EOU will head north to Spokane, Wash. for the Whitworth Peace Meet next weekend. The meet will be held Friday, April 8 and will run just one day.
