BOISE, Idaho – Eastern Oregon University Track and Field battled through chilly, windy conditions at the Ed Jacoby Twilight meet, hosted by Boise State, and still turned in an impressive showing highlighted by four runner-up finishes, 36 top-10 marks, 12 entries into the EOU all-time top 25, and a wave of personal bests.
Leading the way were second-place finishes from
Nick Robinson in the 100m (10.48),
Bryson Spears in the 400m hurdles (53.70),
Sydney Peck in the women's 400m hurdles (1:03.37), and
Mark Church in the hammer throw (56.18m).
Women's Highlights
Despite less-than-ideal weather, the Mountaineers produced several standout performances.
Norah Brooks set the tone in the first event of the day, launching the hammer to a 1.35-meter improvement to her personal best at 42.20m, moving up to #21 in program history.
Melanie Boatman sprinted to a huge personal best in the 100m at 12.18, though her time came with wind above the allowable limit. Though the wind conditions left Boatman unable to use as a qualifying time, she still ranks #5 in program history disregarding the wind readings.
Andrea Goulet capitalized on calmer conditions in the next heat, running a personal best 12.48 that moves her to #16 all-time at EOU. She later added another milestone in the 200m, clocking 25.93 to land at #23 on the program list.
Riley Morris delivered one of the day's most gutsy efforts in a fast, wind-affected 800m race, crossing in 2:16.92 to jump from #25 to #15 all-time.
Men's Highlights
On the men's side, the 100m heats produced strong results across varying wind conditions.
Nick Robinson's 10.48 – just .02 behind the Idaho State winner – not only earned him runner-up honors but also ties the #2 mark in program history and currently leads the conference. In another heat,
Jayce Bartley (10.87) and
Bryson Spears (10.90) moved into the EOU top-25 list at #9 and #11, respectively, with Spears recording a significant personal best. Bartley later improved his standing in the 200m, moving up to #16 all-time with a time of 22.16.
Thomas Furman delivered a breakout performance in the 800m, winning his heat in dominant fashion and finishing eighth overall with a time of 1:55.53. His time marked a nearly four-second seasonal improvement and a 1.13-second lifetime best, placing him at #24 all-time.
In the hurdles,
Reuben Manzer continued his steady progress by shaving a tenth of a second off his previous mark (55.70)in just his second 400m hurdles race, maintaining his spot at #20 all-time.
Field events also saw strong gains, highlighted by
Dylan Buss in the javelin. Buss launched a massive personal best of 58.22m – a 2.5m improvement– moving from #15 to #9 all-time and finishing just over a foot shy of the national B standard.
