ASHLAND, Ore. – Eastern Oregon closed out competition at the CCC Multi-Events Championships on Day 2, contesting the final three events of the women's heptathlon (long jump, javelin, 800m) and the final five events of the men's decathlon (110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, 1,500m). The meet was highlighted by a historic performance from Lizzy Grandle, who captured the heptathlon title while rewriting the record books and moving to No. 1 in the nation.
Grandle delivered a dominant finish, totaling 5,160 points after taking control on Day 1 and never relinquishing the lead. She closed out the competition with a fourth-place finish in the long jump (5.24m), a first-place mark in the javelin (42.95m), and a sixth-place effort in the 800m (2:31.52). Her victory came by a commanding 763-point margin. The performance now ranks No. 1 nationally—300 points ahead of the next-best mark—and sets a new CCC meet record by 51 points. Grandle also surpassed her own Eastern Oregon heptathlon record from 2024 by 214 points. Her javelin throw met the NAIA "A" standard, and she also moved to No. 9 in EOU history in both the 200m and shot put during Day 1.
Kaliyah Chronister turned in a strong Day 2 to secure a fourth-place overall finish with 4,264 points. She placed third in the long jump (5.29m), eighth in the javelin (25.98m), and seventh in the 800m (2:32.96). Her total improves her standing to No. 11 on EOU's all-time list, adding 71 points to her previous best. Chronister also etched her name into the record book in the 100m hurdles on Day 1, ranking No. 20 all-time.
Naiya Senthavilay rounded out the heptathlon field for EOU, finishing 14th overall with 2,753 points. She recorded marks of 15th in the long jump (3.91m), 15th in the javelin (17.86m), and 13th in the 800m (2:51.37).
On the men's side,
Nathan Wachs impressed in his CCC Multi-Events Championships debut, placing second overall with 6,126 points. He highlighted his performance with a third-place finish in the 1,500m (4:48.68) and a fourth-place mark in the discus (37.12m), while also placing eighth in the pole vault (3.30m), 11th in the 110m hurdles (18.44), and 14th in the javelin (36.83m). Wachs' performance also carried historical significance, as he moved to No. 24 in EOU history in the long jump and tied for No. 22 in the 100m. His overall score places him No. 18 on Eastern Oregon's all-time decathlon list.
Loren Wright added to the Mountaineers' efforts with a ninth-place finish, totaling 5,430 points. He led the way in the pole vault with a runner-up finish at 4.10m and added a ninth-place result in the discus (32.35m). Wright also placed 12th in both the 110m hurdles (18.70) and 1,500m (5:09.36), along with a 15th-place finish in the javelin (28.05m).
