PORTLAND - 14th-ranked Mountaineers Volleyball continued its winning ways Saturday night as the team took down Warner Pacific University in straight sets (25-19, 25-18, 25-2) in a conference action matchup. With the win, EOU improves to 11-4 overall and 6-1 in CCC play.Â
How it Happened
• The Mountaineers put on another offensive showcase outhitting the Knights (0-10, 0-7 CCC) .388-.040. Eastern had a 7-2 edge in service aces as well and had a 41-24 advantage in kills. Defensively, EOU was a wall up front with 12 blocks and allowed just three by WPU.Â
• In the early half of the opening set, Eastern and Warner Pacific were tied at 4-all before the Mountaineers created some separation. EOU jumped ahead 11-6 before the Knights closed the gap at 12-11. WPU managed to tie the match one final time at 13-all before EOU finally went ahead.
• The Mountaineers jumped ahead 20-15 late and eventually pushed their lead to 24-17 before the Knights looked to make one final comeback. EOU surrendered two points before a kill by
Jet Taylor closed out the set at 25-19 to give the Mountaineers the 1-0 lead.Â
• In the second set, Eastern surrendered three straight points to let WPU go ahead 3-0, but the Mountaineers responded to tie things at 3-3. The two teams traded shots until the midway point of the match and were tied at 13-all before the Mountaineers went ahead 15-13 and never looked back.
• EOU created separation late in the second set and surged ahead 22-16. The Knights mustered just two more points before the Mountaineers closed out the set with a 25-18 win. Kills by Taylor and
Sade Williams combined with a WPU service error ended the set to give Eastern a 2-0 lead.
• The third set was all EOU as the team allowed just two points by the Knights. The only two points for WPU came in the first half of the set as the Mountaineers opened up a 12-2 lead. The rest was history as the Mountaineers scored 13 straight points to close out the set with a 25-2 win and 3-0 victory.

Breanna Shaffer led the offense with nine kills and hit .318. She also added 11 digs on defense.

Cambree Scott added eight kills on a .438 hitting percentage and added a match best eight blocks.
