ASHLAND, Ore. – Eastern Oregon University Track & Field had a pair of top-two finishes at the 2021 Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships over the two-day span. Leading the way was Tyler Davis who was the men's decathlon Champion scoring 6,496 points. Olivia Lane highlighted the women placing second in the heptathlon scoring 4,419 points.
 
For Davis, his 6,496 points is a new personal best by over 200 points and the total is now the sixth best all-time in program history for the outdoor season. He also posted personal bests in four of the five events on day two to secure the decathlon title.
 
For Lane, she was not far off from her all-time personal best of 4,476 points to earn the runner-up finish at the meet. She wasn't the only Mountaineer woman to have a solid meet, as teammates Karli Bedard and Cheyanne Collins also recorded program all-time top-10 performances.
 
Collins was seventh with 4,064 points which is now seventh best in EOU history for the outdoor season. Bedard scored 4,025 points to place eighth and move up to ninth all-time in the heptathlon in EOU history for the outdoor season.
 
In the heptathlon, Jonah Coats placed sixth with 5,904 points. Sam Roddewig finished right behind him in seventh with 5,896 points. Judson Mansfield placed 11th overall with 5,535 points.
 
Day 1 Recap
In the heptathlon, the women competed in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200-meter dash. In the hurdles, Lane led the way placing fourth running a 15.27. Collins was behind her in fifth with a time of 15.65. Bedard was seventh in the race with a final time of 16.04.
 
In the high jump, it was Bedard that had the top finish for Eastern placing third overall with a height of 5-0 ¼. Lane was two spots back with a fifth place finish clearing the bar at 4-11. Collins was sixth in the event with a final height of 4-0 ¾.
 
The shot put saw Lane grab a runner-up finish in the event, while Bedard and Collins went fifth and sixth, respectively. Lane chucked the rock a distance of 33-8 to place in the top-three. Bedard hit a mark of 31-8, while Collins had a throw of 31-7 ½. In the 200, Collins led the charge placing sixth running 27.01. Lane was ninth in a time of 27.17, while Bedard was 14th with a time of 28.37.
 
In the decathlon, the men competed in five events in the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400-meter dash. Davis got his championship run started with a second place finish in the 100 running a 11.33. Mansfield was seventh in a time of 11.78, followed by Roddewig in eighth at 11.79. Coats was 10th finishing with a time of 11.91.
In long jump, Coats led the way placing fourth with a leap of 20-10 1/2, followed by Davis in sixth with a mark of 20-3 ½. Mansfield and Roddewig were eight and ninth, respectively. Mansfield jumped 20-3, while Roddewig hit a mark of 20-1 ¾.
 
Davis bounced back in the shot put with a throw of 38-10 ½ to place third. Coats was seventh with a chuck of 35-8, followed by Roddweig and Mansfield. Roddewig hit a mark of 35-5 ¼ to finish ninth, while Mansfield was 10th at 33-10 ¾.
 
In high jump, Mansfield and Davis tied for fifth, while Coats tied for seventh. Roddewig was 12th in the event. Both Mansfield and Davis cleared 5-11 ½, while Coats cleared the bar at 5-10 ½. Roddewig cleared a height of 5-2 ¼.
 
Davis picked up another runner-up finish on the track in the 400 to close out day one. He ran 50.99 to place second. Roddewig was fourth with a time of 53.28. Mansfield placed sixth in a time of 53.96, followed by Coats in eighth with a time of 54.34.
 
Day 2 Recap
The second day of action in the decathlon was the difference maker in helping Davis win the event overall. Day two action saw the men compete in the 110-hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and 1,500-meter run.
 
In the hurdles, Davis was the event winner running a 14.89 to take down the field. Mansfield was fifth running 16.02, followed by Roddewig and Coats in seventh and eighth respectively. Roddewig ran 1643. While Coats posted a time of 16.48.
 
Davis was top EOU finisher in the discus placing sixth with a heave of 104-10. Roddewig, Coats, and Masfield finished ninth-11th in the event. Roddewig hit a mark of 97-1, followed by Coats at 96-11. Mansfield rounded out the group throwing 76-8.
 
Pole vault helped out greatly as overall leader of Joseph Dotson from Southern Oregon no heighted which allowed Davis to take the lead for the day. Roddewig was the top finisher placing second with a height of 14-5 ¼. Coats was third clearing the bar at 13-1 ½. Davis placed fifth with a clearance of 12-5 ½, while Mansfield was seventh at 11-5 ¾.
 
Roddewig continued his momentum from pole vault into javelin placing fourth to lead EOU. He hit a mark of 153-7 to place in the top-five. Coats was sixth with a throw of 148-2, while Davis was eight at 146-7. Mansfield placed 11th with a mark of 128-2.
 
The day wrapped up for the men with the 1,500 where Davis placed fifth in a time of 4:47.73 to secure his overall event win. Roddewig was seventh, running 5:07.15, followed by Coats in eighth at 5:07.68. Mansfield was ninth, running a 5:20.12.
 
For the women, the final three events on tap for the heptathlon were the long jump, javelin, and 800-meter run. In long jump, Lane was seventh to lead the charge with a mark of 16-7 ¾. Bedard was 10th with a leap of 15-6 ¼, followed by Collins in 12th clearing 15-3 ¼.
 
In the javelin, the EOU women finished in order at ninth, 10th, and 11th. Lane was the top finisher for the Mountaineers with a throw of 89-5. Bedard hit a mark of 88-1, while Collins hit a mark of 82-6.
 
In the final event of the day, Lane won the 800 running a time of 2:24.90. Collins was seventh running 2:33.39, while Bedard was ninth in a time of 22:33.61
