12th-Ranked Mountaineers Close Out Regular Season on the Road

LA GRANDE, Ore. - 12th-ranked Mountaineers Volleyball will look to get back on track this weekend as they hit the road for their final two games of the regular season.

First Serve
• Following a 1-1 weekend in the home finale last week, EOU (22-6, 17-3 CCC) will look to stay in the top two of the CCC ahead of next week's postseason tournament.
• Entering the weekend, the Mountaineers are still sitting No. 2 in the conference standings and are one game ahead of third place Oregon Tech.
• Following the 1-1 weekend at home, Eastern finishes the regular season with a 9-2 mark at home

• The Mountaineers had a seven-game winning streak snapped in last Saturday's loss to OIT.
• Despite three losses in CCC play, EOU is still in the hunt for a conference crown.

Quick Hits
Last Time Out

• Eastern finished off the home portion of its regular season last weekend going 1-1 inside Quinn Coliseum. The Mountaineers swept SOU, 3-0, before falling 3-1 to OIT.
• Against the Raiders, EOU hit .257 while its defense held Southern to a .066 attack clip. Cambree Scott had 10 kills and 3.0 blocks to lead EOU.
• Against Oregon Tech, the Mountaineers out hit the Hustlin' Owls .181-.140. Both teams had 48 kills. Cambree Scott led the way with 14 for EOU.

Previously Against Northwest/Evergreen State
• EOU already had wins over both the Eagles in Geoducks earlier this season at home.
• Against NU, Eastern won 3-1 on a .320 hitting percentage. Breanna Shaffer (15), Cambree Scott (13), Sade Williams (12), and Preslee Jensen (12) all had double figure kills in the win.
• Against Evergreen State, the Mountaineers won in five sets, 3-2. EOU hit .250 and the geoducks to a .111 attack clip. Shaffer (15) tallied 15 kills in the win. 

EOU in the Polls
• EOU checks in at No. 12 in the fifth edition of the NAIA women's volleyball coaches' top-25 poll.
• In the CCC preseason poll, Eastern was picked to win the conference ahead of Corban and Southern Oregon. The Mountaineers tallied eight first place votes and totaled 140 points.
• The final NAIA Top-25 poll of the regular season will be released Wednesday, Nov. 10.

Three's Company
• Of the Mountaineers' 28 matches so far this season, 16 have ended in straight sets.
• EOU has fared well in three-set matches with a 14-2 record.
• The only 3-0 losses for EOU have come against ranked opponents in Bellevue (Neb.) and Corban.
• In four-set matches this year, EOU is 7-1 with the lone loss coming against OIT.

Home Sweet Home
• Since 2011, EOU has fared well at home in the past decade with a 108-12 record.
• In that span, the Mountaineers have never lost more than two games at home.
• Under the direction of Kaki McLean Morehead, EOU is 140-22 at home.
• The Mountaineers have posted two undefeated seasons at home under Morehead in 2013 and 2016.

Road Warriors
• Dating back to the 2019 regular season, EOU has won 19 of its last 20 matches.
• Under the direction of Kaki McLean Morehead, the Mountaineers are 113-46 in true road contests.
• The Mountaineers 16-game road win streak in the regular season, dating back to 2019, was snapped in the loss to Corban.

Individual Milestones
• Cambree Scott needs just one more block to reach 500 for her career.
• Jet Taylor needs 31 more kills to reach 650 for her career.
• Breanna Shaffer needs just 25 more digs to reach 400 for her career.
• Hailey Arritola is 30 digs away from 500 and six service aces away from 40 for her career.

CCC Stat Leaders
• Cambree Scott leads the conference in total blocks and blocks per set at 130 and 1.34, respectively. Her blocks per set is seventh best in the NAIA, while her total blocks are ninth.
• Hailey Arritola is the league leader in total digs and digs per set at 470 and 4.70, respectively. 
• Alexis McMurtrey is fifth in assists per set at 6.94 and has tallied 694.
• Scott is seventh in hitting percentage at .294 in the CCC.

Scouting the Competition
Northwest Eagles

• The Eagles enter the final weekend of regular season play with a 12-13 overall record and are 11-9 in CCC play. They are currently sixth in the CCC standings.
• At home, Northwest is just 5-5 this season, with the team's last weekend at home being a 1-1 outing.
• Offensively, the Eagles are hitting .185 this season and average 11.2 kills per set. They dish out 10.5 assists per set and have tallied 153 service aces.
• On defense, NU is giving up a .176 attack clip to opponents and allowing 11.0 kills per set. They average 13.6 digs per set and 1.8 blocks per set.
• Abigail Broussard leads the team in kills with 306. She ranks third in the CCC in hitting percentage and averages 3.19 kills per set which is seventh in the conference.
• Broussard also leads the CCC in service aces with 58 on the year. She also has a team best 78.5 blocks and averages 0.82 per set.
• Megan Horne is second on the team in kills at 243. She averages 2.61 per set and has 18 service aces. 
• Anna Saelans continues to lead the way in assists with 940 now and averages 9.89 per set. Her total number of assists leads the conference, while her average is second.
• Azaria Johnson is second on the team in blocks with 62.5 and averages 0.66 per set. She had 57 blocks assists on the year. 
• Cristina Lorenz is still the team leader in digs at 393 and averages 4.14 per set. She is third on the team in service aces with 20.

Evergreen State College Geoducks
• The Geoducks enter the weekend with a 10-11 overall record and are an even 10-10 in CCC play. They currently rank seventh in the CCC standings.
• At home, Evergreen State is 4-5 this season going into the final weekend. The team's last home series saw them go 1-1.
• Offensively, the Geoducks are hitting .186 and average 11.5 kills per set. They have 100 service aces on the year and dish out 10.7 assists per set.
• Defensively, the Geoducks give up a .191 attack clip to opponents and allow 12.2 kills per set. They average 13.7 digs per set and 2.3 blocks per set.
• Zoe Shaw leads the offensive efforts with 3.44 kills per set and has 265 on the year. Her kills per set average is fifth in the CCC.
• Lily Stewart is second in kills with 250. She hits .227 and averages 3.21 kills per set. Stewart is second in blocks as well with 76 total and averages 0.97 per set.
• Hannah Rogen leads the defensive front row in blocks with 79. She averages 0.99 per set and has 20 solo blocks on the year. She is third in kills at 123 and averages 1.54 per set.
• Sage Burgmeier is the back row leader in digs with 341. She averages 4.32 per set and has a .921 reception average.
• Stewart leads the way in service aces as well with 23. Second is Zoe Shaw with 22.

Up Next
• The Mountaineers are already in the CCC Tournament. They will know their seeding by Sunday Nov. 7.
