KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Eastern Oregon opened the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships with strong performances on Thursday, highlighted by Justin Krabbenhoft's lead in the decathlon and Shaeden Washington's second-place standing in the heptathlon.
Krabbenhoft, ranked No. 5 on the NAIA national performance list entering the week, holds the top spot in the decathlon with 3,714 points. The senior opened the day with a victory in the 100 meters (11.28) and capped it with a first-place finish in the 400 meters (48.94). He also took second in both the long jump (6.61m) and high jump (1.97m), and placed fourth in the shot put (11.10m).
Teammate Tyler Jones sits close behind in second with 3,614 points. Jones posted the top mark in the high jump (2.06m "B" Standard) and earned second in both the 100 meters (11.48) and shot put (11.66m). He added a fourth-place finish in the 400 meters (50.63) and placed fifth in the long jump (6.18m).
Judson Mansfield currently ranks fifth overall with 3,095 points, while TJ Lynch sits in 11th with 2,527 points.
In the women's heptathlon, Washington is in second place with 2,798 points and holds the No. 2 mark in the NAIA this season. The junior placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.00) and 200 meters (26.26), and added third-place finishes in the high jump (1.66m "B" Standard) and shot put (9.60m).
The CCC Multi-Event Championships resume Friday morning, with athletes competing for the conference title in the final five decathlon and three heptathlon events.
