Eastern Oregon Splits Series With Warner Pacific

La Grande, Ore. — Eastern Oregon splits the series with Warner Pacific. Eastern won game one 13-10, and then the Knights won game two 17-9 at Optimist Field.

Game 1: Eastern Oregon 13, Warner Pacific 10

Eastern Oregon secured a 13-10 victory over Warner Pacific, led by a strong offensive performance from Parker Cumberland. The Mountaineers capitalized on key hitting and consistent scoring to overcome Warner Pacific's late rally.

Eastern Oregon broke through in the second inning with a three-run home run by Cumberland bringing home Justin Frederick and Easton Espinoza. Warner Pacific answered with a run in the third, but the Mountaineers continued to extend their lead, highlighted by Cumberland double and additional RBIs from Mario Landeros and Trevor Baker. Warner Pacific attempted a comeback in the sixth and eighth innings. However, an insurance run in the eighth, driven in by Frederick's sacrifice fly, sealed the win for Eastern Oregon.

Cumberland finished the game 4-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs, and three runs scored. Baker also went 4-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs. Danny Burns earned the win on the mound.

Game 2: Warner Pacific 17, Eastern Oregon 9

Warner Pacific used a big offensive outburst to defeat Eastern Oregon 17-9 in a back-and-forth contest. 

Warner Pacific jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the second inning, with a two-RBI double from Colby Barnes followed by another two-RBI double from Mitchell Thomas-Britt. Eastern Oregon answered back in the bottom of the second, tying the game at 4-4 with a solo home run from Greyson McDaniel and a two-RBI double by Trevor Baker. But Warner Pacific regained control with a four-run sixth inning, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Barnes.

The Knights continued to build on their lead with a three-run seventh inning and added more insurance runs in the eighth and ninth, including a two-RBI triple from Connor Hale in the ninth. Despite a late rally by the Mountaineers, Warner Pacific secured the 17-9 victory.

For Eastern Oregon, Parker Cumberland led the way with a 2-for-4 performance, driving in two RBIs, while Baker added another two RBIs. Warner Pacific's Mason Deverna had a two-run homer and three RBIs, and Barnes finished with three hits and four RBIs.

Eastern Oregon will look ahead to face DII opponent Central Washington in a midweek battle on March 18th in Ellensburg, Washington. This nonconference single game is set for 1 p.m.
