PORTLAND, Ore. – No. 2 Eastern Oregon volleyball played its final regular season road game the way it knows best, sweeping the Warner Pacific Knights 25-16, 25-14, 25-10 on Thursday night.
With the win, the Mountaineers improve to 24-2 overall and 16-2 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play, remaining a match ahead in first place with their sights set on the regular season title.
EOU was sharp from start to finish, hitting .481 as a team with 43 kills and only five errors while holding Warner Pacific to a .104 clip. The Mounties also controlled the service line, finishing with 10 aces to the Knights' two.
Keira Vaughn led the attack with nine kills on a .563 hitting percentage, while
Brooke Womack added seven and
Kiauna Mack chipped in six, both at .500. The trio headlined the offensive effort that saw eight Mountaineers record kills without committing an attack error.
Brooklyn Willard sparked the service game with four aces and added five digs, while
Kate Stidham guided the offense with 19 assists. With limited defensive chances, Womack still posted a team-high six digs, and both Mack and
McKenzie Jonas tallied a block.
After defeating rival College of Idaho at home last night, Eastern's back-to-back sweeps have the Mounties back in rhythm heading into the final week of the regular season.
EOU returns to Quinn Coliseum next weekend to close out conference play, hosting No. 12 Lewis-Clark State for Senior Night on Saturday before facing (RV) Walla Walla on Sunday afternoon.
