LA GRANDE, Ore. – Saturday evening was one to remember inside Quinn Coliseum as the No. 2-ranked Eastern Oregon volleyball team celebrated seniors
Emma Burlingame and
Kiauna Mack in style, sweeping No. 12 Lewis-Clark State, 25-18, 25-17, 25-21.
The Mountaineers (25-2, 17-2 CCC) looked every bit like a team determined to send their seniors out on a high note, hitting an impressive .370 while holding the Warriors to just .138. EOU controlled the match from start to finish, leading in every statistical category, highlighted by a 60-37 advantage in total points.
Burlingame was dominant in her penultimate regular season home appearance, posting 11 kills on .556 hitting, while Mack added six kills at a .500 clip and a team-high four blocks.
Keira Vaughn matched Burlingame's 11 kills, and
McKenzie Jonas added nine on a .444 percentage.
Ava Semprimoznik and
Kate Stidham combined for 39 assists, while
Brooke Womack led the defense with 11 digs.
LC State (15-8, 12-8 CCC) was led by Juliauna Forgach Agu's 10 kills, while Teagan Scott dished out 21 assists and Ella Stosich collected 10 digs.
The sweep capped a perfect Senior Night for Burlingame and Mack—two cornerstones of Eastern's success and leadership over the past four years.
With the win, Eastern clinched at least a share of the Cascade Collegiate Conference title and will close the regular season tomorrow at noon against (RV) Walla Walla. A victory would secure the outright CCC crown.
