CORVALLIS, Ore. – Following a perfect 4-0 weekend in Fullerton, California, No. 2 Eastern Oregon Volleyball has been named the first
Cascade Collegiate Conference Under Armour Team of the Week of the 2026-27 season.
The Mountaineers continued their dominant preseason at the Summer Slam, hosted by Hope International University, opening the weekend with back-to-back sweeps Friday. EOU defeated Life Pacific 3-0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-12) before taking down La Sierra University 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-21).
Saturday brought EOU's first set losses of the preseason, but the Mountaineers responded with a reverse sweep of Hope International, rallying for a 3-2 victory (22-25, 27-25, 25-14, 24-22, 15-9). Eastern Oregon carried that momentum into its final match of the weekend, earning a statement win over No. 1 Northwestern College (Iowa), 3-1 (25-14, 25-19, 19-25, 25-10).
Keira Vaughn led the Mountaineers offensively throughout the weekend, hitting .415 with 48 kills on 106 attacks while adding eight blocks.
Jule Whitley made an impact on both sides of the net, recording 33 kills on 57 attacks to go with five solo blocks and 18 block assists.
Brooke Womack and
Akylah Kaino each contributed 32 kills, while
Mylie Mills added 18 kills, one solo block and 13 block assists.
At the service line,
Ava Semprimoznik and
Madison Vaughn combined for 19 aces, while
Kate Stidham added six aces and tallied 104 assists to help orchestrate EOU's offensive attack.
With the four wins, Eastern Oregon improved to 8-0 on the preseason, adding to earlier victories over nationally recognized (RV) Columbia International University and (RV) Cumberland University (Tenn.).
The Mountaineers return to action Thursday at the I-84 Classic in Nampa, Idaho, where they will face No. 15 The Master's University before closing the tournament Friday with matchups against Dickinson State (N.D.) and Montana Western.
