Eastern Oregon Makes Quick Work of Walla Walla

LA GRANDE, Ore. - Eastern Oregon Volleyball delivered a dominant performance Friday afternoon, securing victories in all three sets against Walla Walla University. The stats illustrate EOU's dominance, with a team attack percentage of .437 compared to WWU's -.031.

In the first set, EOU displayed their offensive advantage with 11 kills on a .240 hitting percentage. Alexis McMurtrey's service aces were instrumental in clinching a 25-9 win.

The second set was even more favorable for EOU as they surged to a quick 5-0 lead, piling on 16 kills with an impressive .609 hitting percentage. While WWU's Lauren Moody and Gabrielle Faamausili attempted to counter with two kills each, EOU's consistent offense resulted in a dominant 25-11 set win.

In the final set, EOU continued their dominant performance against WWU, winning 25-9. Alexis McMurtrey was pivotal for EOU, delivering four service aces in rapid succession to help her team take an early lead. Brooke Womack was effective on offense, tallying four kills. Ashton Haughton and McKenzie Jonas also made significant contributions, each recording three kills.

Notable performances coming from the Mounties include Alexis McMurtrey and Mckenzie Jonas. McMurtrey provided 17 assists and 7 service aces, while Jonas recorded a .833 hitting percentage with 5 kills. Kiauna Mack also made significant contributions with 5 kills on a .714 hitting rate. For WWU, Gabrielle Faamausili emerged as a bright spot, notching 6 kills on a .600 percentage.

This victory bolstered EOU's impressive record to 14-1 in the season and 7-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, while WWU fell to 0-9 overall and 0-8 in the CCC. The Mountaineers will face off against the Warriors of Lewis-Clark State College tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. in Quinn Coliseum.
