Walla Walla, Wash. - The Eastern Oregon Mountaineers (1-14) took on the Whitman College Blues(10-6) in a midweek pre-season game. It was a single nine inning game Tuesday afternoon, where Whitman grabbed most of their runs early on and edged out the Mounties 6-4. EOU now sits 1-14 on the season.
Although the Mounties got on the board first, a big third inning allowed the Blues to come back and take the game 6-4. The runs for both teams were all scored in the first four innings. The Mounties then added two more late game runs in an attempt to rally, but the Blues defense held it off. Defensively EOU was able to hold Whitman to six scoreless innings. Offensively,
Elliott Marks, Shane Sinclaie,
Youhyeon Choi, and
Justin Frederick scored for the Mounties.
Mario Landeros and
Austin Gerding led the team in hits on the afternoon with three and two respectively.
EOU regroups and will look ahead to this weekend's Cascade Conference matchup. The Mounties will face the Oregon Tech Owls Saturday, March 18th at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m in La Grande.
