LA GRANDE, Ore. – The Mountaineer Women's Cross Country Team took on the Lewis-Clark State Invitational on Saturday morning, Oct. 8. EOU placed sixth out of seven teams against stiff competition that included NCAA Division I opponents Gonzaga, University of Montana, and University of Idaho. Eastern totaled 163 points on the day.
Leading the way for the Mounties was Lauryn Mitchell who finished 29th overall with a time of 19:24, running her second fastest time ever. Following Mitchell was Riley Morris in 33rd with a time of 19:45 and Elisabeth Young in 38th nearly breaking the 20-minute mark with a time of 20:03. Rounding out Mountaineers in the top-50 runners was Kendall Bozani who finished 44th with a time of 20:25. Young and Bozani both posted career best times.
Eastern Oregon Cross Country will race again next week at the Lewis & Clark Invitational hosted in Portland, Ore. The women's 6k will begin at 10:15 a.m. followed by the men's 8k at 11:00 a.m. It will be EOU's final competition before the conference championships on Nov. 4 in Talent, Ore.
