LA GRANDE, Ore. - 13th-ranked Mountaineers Volleyball continued its winning ways Saturday night with a 3-0 thrashing of Multnomah University (25-8, 25-13, 25-8) inside Quinn Coliseum. Eastern Oregon held the Lions to a -.021 attack clip to improve to 21-5 on the year and 16-2 in CCC play.
How it Happened
• Eastern hit .393 in the win and racked up 37 kills and never allowed the Lions (4-15, 3-15 CCC) to hit over .100 in any set while giving up just 17 kills.
• Service aces once again helped EOU in the win as the team racked up seven to just one by Multnomah. Up front, the Mountaineers won the blocking battle as well 5-2.Â
• In the first set, the Lions mustered just eight points and hit .056 while EOU tallied 17 kills and hit .432 to jump ahead 1-0.
• In the first set, a fast start by Eastern guided the team to the 17-point win. The Mountaineers got up 7-3 to force a Lions timeout but it made little difference. EOU's lead grew to 11-3 before the Lions scored again.
• The Mountaineers lead grew to 10 at 14-4 as part of a 4-0 run that eventually put them up 15-4. Multnomah looked to respond and got within nine, 16-7, but managed just one more point before dropping the set.
• In the second set, both teams put up just eight kills, respectively. Eastern still hit .231 in the frame while the Lions were at a negative attack clip of -.056.Â
• Eastern once again grabbed a 7-3 lead forcing another early timeout by the Lions. Eastern held its lead the rest of the way and found themselves up 10 once again at 17-7.
• The Mountaineers lead eventually grew to 21-11 before the Lions added two more points. An attack error by Multnomah followed by a double block from
Cambree Scott and
Preslee Jensen ended the set.
• Eastern repeated its first set score winning by 17 again in the third to complete the sweep. The Mountaineers were relentless, hitting .524 in the frame while their defense kept Multnomah at -.087.
• The Lions grabbed a 3-1 lead to start the set and were ahead 5-4 before a 6-0 run by Eastern made it a 10-5 game and never looked back
• The Lions cut their deficit to four, 10-6 on an EOU attack error, but the Mountaineers then went on another 6-0 run and led 17-6.Â
• EOU's second 6-0 run ended on a service error to make it 17-7, before a third and final 6-0 run put the team up 23-7. The Lions got one more kill in before dropping the set and following in three straight.

Preslee Jensen hit .438 in the win and had a match best eight kills to go along with three blocks.

Cambree Scott also had three blocks and added seven kills on a match-high .636 attack clip.

Breanna Shaffer also had seven kills while hitting .429 in the win.

Hannah Ledgerwood paced the offense dishing out 18 assists and was one dig shy of a double-double with nine.

Hailey Arritola led the back row yet again tallying 16 digs and.

• Danae Stokes led the offense with six kills on a .130 hitting percentage.
• Jocelynn Porter added four kills in the loss.
• Madison Gombio dished out seven assists, while Rachel Bailey had six.
• Alyssa Mehalovich led the back row with nine digs.
