Mountaineers Fall Twice to Oregon Tech on Saturday

LA GRANDE, Ore. – Eastern Oregon Baseball dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader against Oregon Tech, falling 12-2 in game one and 2-1 in game two.

Game 1
Eastern Oregon struck first in the opening inning, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI double from Andrew Demianew. Both teams were held scoreless until the bottom of the third, when Oregon Tech evened the score at 1-1 with an RBI single from JoJo Roman.

The Owls took their first lead of the game in the fourth inning on an RBI triple from Aiden Corkery, making it 2-1. Oregon Tech added to its lead in the fifth with a solo home run from Andrew Sharp to go up 3-1.

Eastern Oregon responded in the sixth inning, cutting the deficit to one with a sacrifice fly from Jace Nagler. However, the Owls quickly broke the game open in the bottom half of the inning, scoring five runs on five hits, along with a walk and a Mountaineer error, to extend their lead to 8-2.

Oregon Tech continued to add on, scoring two runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth, capped by a home run to enforce the run rule and secure a 12-2 victory.
After the sixth inning, the Owls limited Eastern Oregon to just one hit and no runs over the final two frames. Landon Cheney (3-3) earned the win, tossing a complete game, while Easton Corey (2-4) took the loss for the Mountaineers.

Game 2
The second game proved to be a much tighter contest, with Eastern Oregon falling just short, 2-1. The Mountaineers again got off to a strong start, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single from Alex Olague. Oregon Tech answered in the third, tying the game at 1-1 on another RBI single from Andrew Sharp.

Both teams relied on strong pitching and timely defense the rest of the way, each turning key double plays to escape potential scoring threats. The decisive moment came in the seventh inning, when Michael O'Daniel launched a solo home run to give Oregon Tech a 2-1 lead.

Eastern Oregon managed to put runners on base late but was unable to bring the tying run across, ultimately falling by a single run. Jace Schow (0-5) was charged with the loss, while Carson Glavich (2-4) earned the win after seven innings of work, striking out eight.
