FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Eastern Oregon (RV) Women's Wrestling battled through Day One of the Warrior Open, with four Mountaineers advancing to tomorrow's placement matches. 

Gloria Diaz (117) was a standout performer on Day One, securing two impressive victories. She first defeated Lyric Hetzer by fall in 1:52, then dominated Trinity Howard from West Liberty, winning by fall in 1:08. Gloria is set to face Carleigh Czerneski tomorrow in the championship matchup. 

Kiona Michel (207) had a dominant day, winning all of her matches. She started with a win over McKenzie Ills from Providence by fall in 4:21, followed by a fall victory over Ruble Barton from Brewton Parker in 4:35. She closed out the day with a 7-4 decision win over Lyla Hensen. Michel is set to face Isabel Hensen from Manchester in the championship match tomorrow.

Brooklyn faced a challenging day, dropping her first two matches. She lost to Jes'Onia Barefield from Georgetown by decision, 8-3, and then suffered a technical fall to Kylee Slyter from Baker in just 1:52. She'll look to bounce back tomorrow in her next match against Shai Curtiss from Alma (MI).

Paige Allen had a mixed day, suffering a loss to Amitria McNack from Avila (MO) but bouncing back with a dominant 12-2 technical fall over Payton Curley from Linfield in just under two minutes. She also earned a victory by forfeit before losing to Makyah Newlun from West Liberty. Allen will face Cailyn Casto from Point Park in her next match.

The remaining Mounties were eliminated on Day One, with multiple wrestlers facing nationally ranked opponents. Eastern Oregon will continue competition on Day Two for placement matches to close out the weekend.
