SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – In their final dual of the season, the (RV) Eastern Oregon women's wrestling team fell to No. 9 Southern Oregon, 29–19, on Friday night at Thurston High School.
The Mountaineers claimed victories in three of the five contested weight classes, but four forfeits proved costly and ultimately swung the dual in favor of the Raiders.
The night opened with a forfeit loss for EOU at 103 pounds, followed by a forfeit win at 110 pounds for No. 20
Telsarina Walter. Action began on the mat at 117 pounds, where No. 19
Isabella Coronado earned an 11–0 technical fall over Caroline Farris early in the second period.
Southern Oregon picked up a forfeit win at 124 pounds before EOU's
Lexie Garza delivered a key upset, pinning No. 13 Jade Morales in 2:00 at 131 pounds. Another Raider forfeit victory at 138 pounds gave SOU a narrow one-point edge. EOU quickly responded at 145 pounds, as No. 12
Veil Foreman pinned Sabrina Sifuentez in just 0:53 to reclaim the lead for the Mountaineers.
The Raiders closed the dual by winning the final three matches, as
Hannah Hernandez fell 10–0 to No. 10 Vida Boskovic, Southern Oregon earned a forfeit victory, and
Kiona Michel dropped her bout to No. 2 Kat Hingano.
In exhibition action, No. 20
Telsarina Walter defeated No. 14 Briseis Serrano with a 3–0 decision at 110 pounds, while
Gillian O'Neal competed at 124 pounds and fell to Kaylee Annis.
Eastern Oregon now turns its focus to the Cascade Conference Tournament, set for March 1.
