WICHITA, Kan. – Eastern Oregon RV Women's Wrestling endured a difficult opening day at the NAIA National Tournament, with all five Mountaineer wrestlers eliminated from competition.
At 117 pounds,
Gloria Diaz advanced through two byes before stepping onto the mat but was unable to secure a win, falling to Salyna Shotwell of Life Pacific and Sigrun Metzger of Ottawa.
In the 131-pound bracket,
Lexie Garza also received a first-round bye but dropped her opening matches to Jumoke Adekoye of Dickinson State and Jill High of York. Teammate
Makenna Duran, competing in the same weight class, followed a similar path after a first-round bye, losing to Larissa Kaz of Hastings and Madison Pena of Wayland Baptist.
At 145 pounds,
Veil Foreman opened with a loss to Holland Wieber of Southern Oregon before rebounding with a 3:32 pin over Corin Lowe of Oklahoma City. Her run ended in the next round with a defeat to Elise Twait of Providence.
Kiona Michel, wrestling at 207 pounds, began with a loss to Selena Mares of Grand Valley but answered with a 4:13 pin against Taylor Rickley of Hastings. Michel was eliminated in her following match by Faith Wooley of Wayland Baptist.
With the final bouts concluded, the 2025–26 season comes to a close for Mountaineer Women's Wrestling.
