LA GRANDE, Ore. – No. 1 Eastern Oregon University volleyball opened up Cascade Collegiate Conference play with a landslide win, sweeping The Evergreen State College 25-10, 25-13, 25-8 at home on Friday evening.
The Mountaineers started the year with two different preseason tournaments, both containing a handful of other nationally ranked teams, and it showed tonight that they were well prepared for their CCC slate.
EOU has now moved to 1-0 in conference and 9-0 overall as the team completed its fifth-straight sweep of the season.
Eastern absolutely dominated the Geoducks, hitting .370 percent as a team while holding Evergreen to -.079. The Mounties out-killed TESC 37-14 and collected all 12 of the match's service aces.
Kiauna Mack led EOU with 11 kills for a .471 attack percentage, followed by
Brooke Womack who had ten kills at .474 percent.
Kate Stidham kept the offense moving with 18 assists, and
Jaycee Villastrigo contributed four aces and seven digs.
The Mountaineers continue their homestand tomorrow afternoon, and look to extend their winning streak to ten games as they host (RV) Northwest University at 4:00 p.m.
