LA GRANDE, Ore. – Double-digit kills and a .526 hitting percentage from
McKenzie Jonas helped lead No. 1 Eastern Oregon volleyball over (RV) Northwest University on Saturday, as the Mountaineers finished up their first homestand of the year with their sixth-consecutive sweep.
EOU, now 10-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play, managed to ground the once undefeated Eagles, snapping their seven-game winning streak.
The Mounties hit .290 as a team and held the advantage in kills 49-20. They also out-aced Northwest 7-2.
Jonas was at the front of the attack with 13 kills, followed by
Kiauna Mack who had 11 for a season-high .667 percentage.
Kate Stidham dished out 27 assists, and
Ava Semprimoznik added 13 more along with a team-high four service aces.
Eastern Oregon will return to action next weekend for its first CCC road series. The Mountaineers travel to No. 19 Southern Oregon on Friday night, followed by a match at (RV) Oregon Tech on Saturday.
