KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Following Eastern Oregon's first cross country meet of the season, the women's team has climbed to No. 16 in the NAIA Top 25 Ratings, while the men are receiving votes, as announced by the association on Thursday.
The Mountaineer women began the season rated No. 20 in the preseason poll and have since jumped four spots, earning 178 points in the first regular-season ratings. At the recent NNU Invitational, EOU finished fourth overall, led by
Riley Morris, who placed second individually.
Within the Cascade Collegiate Conference, Eastern trails only No. 9 College of Idaho, which moved up three spots this week after winning the race in Nampa. Southern Oregon held steady at No. 19, unchanged from the preseason poll.
On the men's side, Eastern Oregon dropped out of the Top 25 but is still receiving votes after starting the season at No. 11, despite a competitive showing at NNU. The men also finished fourth as a team, led by
Thomas Ogden, who placed eighth individually.
Elsewhere in the CCC men's rankings: Corban remained at No. 9, while College of Idaho fell to 12th after taking second place in Nampa. Southern Oregon climbed from No. 22 to 19th, and Lewis-Clark State dropped significantly, from No. 15 to 25th.
Next up, the Mountaineers will compete at the Willamette Charles Bowles Invite in Salem, Oregon, on Saturday, October 4.
