Box Score 2 KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – Eastern Oregon softball opened the Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships with a dominant shutout win over Carroll and an extra-inning thriller against Southern Oregon, moving to 30-9 on the season and advancing deeper into the postseason bracket.
Game 1: Eastern Oregon 3, Carroll 0
Kylie Parsons remained flawless in the circle, tossing a complete-game two-hit shutout as the Mountaineers blanked the Saints in the opening round. Parsons (14-0) struck out nine and did not allow a walk across seven innings of work.
Eastern Oregon struck early, scoring all three of its runs in the bottom of the first inning. After Raygun Klippert and Katelynn Evans reached base, Madelyn Durham doubled to right center, driving in both runners. Durham later came home on an error at third following a ground ball by Emily Barry.
The Mountaineers recorded just three hits but made them count, with Klippert going 2-for-3 and Durham adding the clutch two-RBI double. Defensively, EOU played clean, committing no errors behind Parsons' strong outing.
Game 2: Eastern Oregon 5, Southern Oregon 4 (8 innings)
Eastern Oregon capped the day with a gritty extra-inning win over rival Southern Oregon, rallying from a two-run deficit in the late innings and walking it off in the eighth.
Trailing 4-2 entering the sixth, EOU pulled even on an RBI groundout by Evans and a throwing error that allowed Klippert to score. In the eighth, Klippert singled up the middle and later came around on Durham's base hit to center, plating the go-ahead run.
Durham finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and the game-winning hit, while Klippert went 3-for-5 with two runs scored. Parsons once again played a key role, earning her second win of the day in relief with three scoreless innings, improving to 15-0 on the season.
EOU outhit the Raiders 12-9 and overcame early offensive pressure, including a three-run second inning from SOU. Madison Olson also tallied three hits, and Evans, Barry, and Hannah Tyree each added an RBI.
The Mountaineers return to action on Saturday as they continue their push for a CCC Tournament title, facing Oregon Tech at 2:00 p.m.
