GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eastern Oregon University track and field wrapped up the opening day of competition at the NAIA National Indoor Championships with strong performances, including two All-American finishes and two school records.
The EOU women's team currently sits in 10th place in the overall team standings with three points, courtesy of Adrienne Washington's sixth-place finish in the women's pentathlon. Washington earned All-American honors with a total of 3,487 points, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the high jump (1.68m) and a sixth-place result in the long jump (5.48m).
The EOU men's team is currently in 12th place with one point, which was earned by Tyler Jones' eighth-place finish in the men's high jump. Jones also secured All-American honors with the finish, clearing 2.03m.
In the men's heptathlon, Tyler Jones and Justin Krabbenhoft are in strong contention after day one. Jones sits in third place with 2,998 points, while Krabbenhoft is close behind in fourth with 2,931 points. The heptathlon will conclude tomorrow with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1,000-meter run starting at 10 a.m. ET.
Distance standout Justin Ash advanced to the men's 5,000-meter final after a stellar performance in the prelims, finishing second with a time of 14:43.28. He will compete for a national title on Saturday at 4:20 p.m. ET.
EOU's relay teams also made history, setting two new school records in the preliminaries. The women's 4x800-meter relay team—comprised of Mattie Woodbury, Carlee Jensen, Riley Morris, and Skotlyn Hill—clocked a 9:17.96 to place 10th, breaking the previous program record of 9:28.27 set in 2020. On the men's side, the 4x400-meter relay team of Reuben Manzer, Giacomo Riguerio, James Connally, and Osman Osman finished 15th in 3:16.44, eclipsing the previous record of 3:16.91 set last season.
