CRETE, Neb. – At the Women's Conner Oppenheim Doane Open in Crete, Nebraska,
Veil Foreman and
Paige Allen both turned heads with standout performances in their respective divisions.
Veil Foreman demonstrated incredible resilience and determination, facing a brutal lineup in the Elite Division. She squared off against four nationally-ranked opponents: #17 Berlyn Davis from Westcliff, #12 Emma Stice from Hastings, #6 Bridgette Sotomayor from Doane and #2 Jordan Suarez from Wayland Baptist. Despite the tough competition, Foreman showcased her skills with a series of impressive matches. She notched quick fall victories over Davis (1:10), Stice(2:23), and Sotomayor(2:07) before falling to Suarez in a tough 10-0 tech fall in the finals. Her ability to hold her own against top-tier competition speaks volumes about her talent and potential, making her one to watch in the coming season.
Meanwhile,
Paige Allen shined in the Amateur Division, where she was a force to be reckoned with. Allen cruised to victory with a series of impressive wins, including a 5:16 pin over Sydney Andrews from William Penn, a decisive 8-4 win over Savannah Brehm from Dakota State, and two quick pins in under 2:30. Her dominant performance earned her the top spot in the division, proving that her combination of speed and technique was simply too much for her opponents to handle.
Both Foreman and Allen displayed incredible skill and determination at the Doane Open, leaving no doubt about their abilities and future success. Foreman's courage against top-ranked competition and Allen's flawless performance in the Amateur Division highlight the growing strength of Eastern Oregon's wrestling program.
While only finishing with two placers, many Mounties showed their strength, defeating other ranked individuals, and batting hard in each of their matches. Despite the tough losses of other Mountie grapplers, they continue to showcase their depth and grit, and this competition served as a solid platform for the team to build upon moving forward.
The Mounties will return to action Saturday December 13, as they head to Ontario, Oregon to face Treasure Valley.
