Foreman and Macias Join Individual Rankings as Mounties remain in National Conversation

KANSAS CITY, MO. – The Eastern Oregon Women's Wrestling team continues to receive recognition, earning 27 votes in the third regular-season edition of the NAIA Top 20 rankings, as announced by the NAIA national office on Thursday morning.

Four Mountaineers are ranked individually in the national Top 20, with one athlete re-entering the rankings and another making her debut this season. Gloria Diaz, Lexie Garza, Sitlaly Macias, and Veil Foreman all secured spots following impressive performances at the Spokane Open and Doane Conner Oppenheim Open since the last rankings were released.

Diaz moved up to No. 19 in the 117-pound weight class with 12 points after a second-place finish at the Spokane Open, where she lost to No. 10 Joely Slyter from Providence. She also posted a 2-2 record at the Doane Open. Garza climbed to No. 19 in the 131-pound weight class with 9 points after a 1-2 showing at the Doane Open.

Macias broke into the rankings for the first time this season, coming in at No. 15 in the 138-pound division with 23 points. She went 2-2 at the Doane Open, including a win over No. 14 Payton Weese from Doane University. Foreman made a return to the rankings, jumping to No. 8 in the 143-pound weight class with 44 points. Foreman earned her spot after a strong performance at the Spokane Open, where she made a remarkable five-round comeback following an initial loss to No. 5 Elise Twalt. She also finished second at the Doane Open, defeating wrestlers ranked No. 6, No. 12, and No. 17.

Rankings are determined through a voting process conducted by a panel of head coaches from each conference, using a points-based system that evaluates both team and individual performances.
