Mounties Maintain National Presence, Receiving Votes and Four Ranked Individuals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In the latest NAIA Women's Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 Poll, Eastern Oregon University maintained its national presence, appearing among the teams receiving votes with 21 points. Four Mountaineers also earned individual rankings following strong performances at the Mike Clock Open, released Thursday morning by the NAIA national office. 

Each of the Mounties shifted in rankings after their most recent performances. At 110 pounds, Nia Avelino now sits at No. 14 with 23 points after a strong outing at the Mike Clock Open where she earned a third-place finish. Also at 110 pounds, Telsarina Walter now holds the No. 18 spot with 16 points. In the 117 weight division, Gloria Diaz remained at the No. 15 spot with 22 points following a standout second-place finish at the Mike Clock Open. Rounding out the individual rankings is Lexie Garza, also remaining at the No. 20 spot with 5 points. 

The Cascade Collegiate Conference continued its strong national presence, placing three teams in the Top 20 and another among those receiving votes. Providence came in at No. 4, Southern Oregon at No. 11, and Evergreen at No. 15, with Westcliff also earning poll recognition.

The NAIA Top 20 rankings are determined through a coaches' panel voting system that evaluates team and individual performances using a points-based rubric.
