CALDWELL, Idaho – In a midweek battle of ranked rivals, No. 1 Eastern Oregon volleyball earned its 12th sweep of the season with a 25-14, 25-21, 25-21 statement win over No. 15 College of Idaho in Caldwell.
The victory brings the Mountaineers to 17-0 overall and 9-0 in conference play, staying perfect on the year and holding firm at the top of the CCC standings. The loss drops the Yotes to 10-6 (4-5 CCC), now sitting in seventh place.
EOU posted a .197 hitting percentage compared to C of I's .087, and notched eight more kills in the match. The Mounties also held a significant edge at the service line, tallying 11 aces to the Yotes' three, and dominated at the net with 10 total blocks.
Keira Vaughn led the attack with 11 kills, while
Kiauna Mack and
McKenzie Jonas added seven apiece on efficient hitting percentages over .330.
Kate Stidham kept the offense moving with 23 assists and contributed a team-high four aces. On defense,
Jaycee Villastrigo anchored the back row with 17 digs, and Mack led the blocking effort with six total.
Next, Eastern will return home to host Warner Pacific on Saturday, October 4, for Breast Cancer Awareness Night. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Quinn Coliseum.
