GREENWOOD, Ind. – The 2024 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's track & field honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. After seven Mounties earned the distinguished award last year, EOU added one more to that total this season with eight.
On the women's side EOU had five individuals named Academic All-District.
Karli Bedard (Hurdles, Heptathlon, 4 x 800),
Katie Brown (sprints),
Madison MacMillan (Javelin, sprints),
Sydney Peck (sprints, hurdles), and
Adrienne Washington (Heptathlon, jumps, sprints) rounded out the group.
Four members of that group qualified for the NAIA National Championships in the outdoor season (Bedard, Brown, Peck, and Washington). Bedard was the only athlete to qualify for the Indoor National Championships as well. Of the four, Washington and Peck were selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists.
As for the men, EOU had three athletes recognized and all three were also selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists.
Mark Church (throws),
Tyler Jones (jumps), and
Hunter Nichols (distance) all made the list. Every member of the trio qualified for both the NAIA Indoor and Outdoor National Championships. Nichols stands as the only Mountie on both the men's and women's side to qualify for the Cross Country National Championships and win the award. Both Nichols (outdoor – Steeplechase) and Church (indoor – Weight Throw) earned All-American honors during the 2023-2024 season.
