Mounties Split with Warriors on Day One

SALEM, Ore. – Eastern Oregon hit the road on Friday to start a four-game series with the Warriors of Corban University. The Mounties took game one thanks to strong pitching and some hot bats, 9-0. Corban bounced back taking a 7-4 win over EOU in game two. With the split, EOU now sits at 25-15 on the year. Games three and four will be played tomorrow afternoon with first pitch of game three set for 11 a.m.
 
GAME 1
EOU took game one on the back of 14 hits by the Mountie offense. Eastern slowly built on their lead and put an exclamation point on the win with three runs in the sixth to cut the game to six innings. Haley Tyree spearheaded the Mountie offense with four hits and five RBIs, while Kaylie Hoskins dominated the circle giving up only three hits striking out 15.

STANDOUT MOUNTIE PERFORMANCES  
GAME 2
Corban responded in game two and took the win thanks to a huge third inning that saw the Warriors put up all seven of their runs in the 7-4 victory. The Mounties struck first with two in the top half of that inning but were unable to close the gap down the stretch. Gates Leatherwood punched a two-run homer (her second of the game) in the top of the seventh but it was too little, too late as the Mounties couldn't keep it going.
